Pros
- Wireless Pump Technology
- Effective Filtration System
- Spacious Water Capacity
- Low-Noise Operation
- Smart App Alerts and Control
Wireless Pump Technology:
Let’s talk about that asterisk above first. Note that while the pump technology is completely wireless, this is not a battery-operated fountain. You will still need access to an outlet. However, instead of running cords through the fountain to the outside, you just need to plug in the base, then set the fountain (already filled with water) onto it. Basically, no part of the base or cord ever needs to come into contact with water.
Along with just plain being safer to use, the wireless pump technology reduces wear and tear on the pump, so your fountain will last longer overall. It also automatically activates anti-dry burning protection if the water level gets too low.

Effective Filtration System:
The multi-layer filtration process ensures your pets always drink pure water, free from contaminants. This is especially important for cats and dogs prone to urinary or kidney issues, as filtered water can help reduce health risks. The design itself even minimizes the risk of insects getting into the water.
The main filter lasts 90 days, which is freaking awesome. Most of the filters in the fountains I’ve used last maybe 30 days tops. The little sponge filters should be changed once a week but you get like 5 of them in the box.

Spacious Water Capacity:
The 91.7oz tank means you won’t need to refill the fountain frequently, even if you have multiple pets. It’s perfect for busy pet owners or those who travel frequently. Although it’s marketed towards cats, it’s actually large enough for dogs to use, too, in my opinion.
Okay, maybe a Newfie would find it challenging to get his ginormous head into the opening, but your average small to medium-large dog should have zero issues.

Low-Noise Operation:
Pets can be sensitive to loud or constant noises. The CATLINK PURE 2’s quiet operation ensures it won’t disturb your pets or your household. According to CATLINK, it operates at below 30dBs.
Is it 100% silent? Legally, I don’t know if I can say that it is since your hearing may be more sensitive than mine. I can say that I was standing less than a foot away and literally couldn’t hear a single sound coming from it.
Smart Alerts for Maintenance:
The fountain’s intelligent sensors are incredibly convenient. Notifications about water levels and filter replacements ensure you’re never caught off guard, keeping your pets hydrated without interruptions.
You can also use the app to set the drinking mode. There are four options, including:
- Flowing Mode (constantly flowing)
- Smart Mode (starts when it detects your cat)
- Eco Mode (flows for 3 mins every 5 mins)
- Night Mode (light off and the water fountain switched to eco-mode).
Speaking of the app, it uses the same one as the CATLINK Scooper Luxury Pro-X Self Cleaning Litter Box, which makes it easy to see all of your cat’s habits and details in one spot.
Cons
Honestly, I had a hard time coming up with cons here, which is super rare for me. I can find something wrong with just about everything (yep, even chocolate). 😀 There are a couple of things that aren’t really wrong per se, but that I would change, though.
- Cord could be longer
- Power button is easy for cats to press
- Slightly confusing product description
Cord Length
The cord isn’t terribly short or anything, but I do think it could stand to be a bit longer. I’d say it’s roughly 4 feet long. I stink at measurements and didn’t break out the ruler or anything, but I used myself as a “ruler” and it’s definitely a good foot shorter than my 5’3”.
Power button
The only major con of the fountain is the location of the power button on the base. Luke is a bit of a troublemaker. He’s curious and clever, which while adorable is just a terrible combination when it comes to staying out of mischief. It took him all of two seconds to notice the light next to the power button and another second to figure out how to press the button.
Once he realized that hitting that button stops the water flow and ruins his big splashing fun, he left it alone. Like I said, he’s clever.

Product Description
This one has nothing to do with the fountain itself but rather how it’s described in the product description. Between the description and the photos, it’s not really clear upfront that only the pump is wireless and that you do still need AC power to operate the fountain.
Side note- if you want a battery-operated fountain, they do offer that option in a different model. Check out the Wireless CATLINK AI Water Fountain.
Is the CATLINK PURE 2 Worth It?
Is it worth it? Absolutely! As I said, I had a hard time finding anything to really complain about here. It’s easy to assemble, doesn’t take up a ton of floor space, and works beautifully. I would like to see this fountain with a battery-operated option in the future, but having the cord completely separate from the actual fountain is a major pro, so I can wait on that.
