We have tried and tested a variety of self-cleaning litter boxes for cats and the next few on the list are the PetSafe ScoopFree Litter Boxes. PetSafe offers several options, each designed with unique features to meet different needs, making them an affordable choice for self-cleaning cat litter boxes.
In our evaluation, we focused on several key aspects: design, ease of cleaning, size, smart features, material quality, and price. PetSafe ScoopFree Litter Boxes excelled in most of these areas, proving to be a top choice for cat owners seeking convenience, reliability, and affordability. Take a look at what I found during my review of the PetSafe ScoopFree Litter Box.
Eliminate scooping with the ScoopFree® Complete Plus Covered Self-Cleaning Litter Box. Using crystal litter for superior odor control, it absorbs urine and dehydrates solid waste, performing up to five times better than traditional clumping litter. The 99% dust-free, low-tracking crystals keep floors clean, while safety sensors ensure scooping only occurs when your cat is out. Disposable trays with leak-protective linings and easy-to-remove lids make maintenance simple. A health counter monitors usage for early health issue detection, and the privacy cover offers a secluded space.
Factors We Considered In PetSafe ScoopFree Litter Box Review
Design
When you purchase a PetSafe ScoopFree Automatic Litter Box, it comes with the main rigging unit, the body of the litter box, the litter tray, and a bag of cat litter. It is designed to be very simple and convenient for cat-owners to assemble and disassemble when disposing of the disposable litter box. Petsafe prides itself for its excellent odor control, however, based on my personal experience, this claim only lasts for so long, and when this effect dwindles down, you will have to dispose of it as it goes really bad, although this is quite a common experience anytime using silica gel cat litter.
Ease Of Cleaning & Setup
The PetSafe ScoopFree Litter Box is designed very well to be very convenient for all cat-owners out there. It comes with a disposable box that is already pre-filled with PetSafe crystal cat litter. There is no need for you to do any scooping for 30 days, and when the waste receptacle gets full with waste, all you have to do is remove the top part of the litter box, place back the top cover the disposable box, remove it and throw it away, then replace with a new disposable litter box that is already, again, pre-filled with PetSafe’s very own silica gel cat litter.
The plus side of this is that you do not need to touch or clean the litter box, just remove it and throw it in the bin, however, the downside of this is that it may become costly in the long run if you keep buying and disposing of the pre-filled disposable litter box.
Another thing I noticed is that the rake is not really able to capture all the smaller waste products that are left in the litter bed, and that after one week, waste sticks onto and build up on the rake and you will have to manually clean it up.
It’s so easy to set up. This short video explains it all:
Size
This automatic litter box is designed to only serve one cat at a time and you may need to replace the disposable litter box more frequently if you have more than one cat. It measures 28.5 x 20.5 x 11.5 inches (LxWxH).
PetSafe ScoopFree Litter Box Smart Features
The PetSafe ScoopFree Automatic Litter Box features a sensor that detects your cat’s presence and then waits for 20 minutes after your cat leaves the litter box to give time for absorption before it starts its cycle. It then starts to pull the solid wastes into the waste receptacle and closes the door afterwards, and this raking process only takes over a minute. This helps in sifting the things around the litter and it also distributes any remaining bodily fluids to ensure better absorption and it actually works very well. I never experienced any malfunctions or jammings of the rake, and it works very quietly.
Material
The PetSafe ScoopFree Cat Litter Box is simply made from sturdy plastic materials that ensures its longevity and durability.
Price
PetSafe ScoopFree Automatic Litter Boxes have a few options to choose from however, our favorite is the ScoopFree Crystal Pro Front-Entry Self-Cleaning Litter Box. This is currently priced at $184.95, 20% off it’s original price tag.
Conclusion
The PetSafe ScoopFree Automatic Cat Litter Box is good enough for me due to its convenience and ease of use. When the waste receptacle is already filled with waste products, all you have to do is cover up the whole litter box back again and just throw it away as neatly as it is, and just replace it with a new disposable litter box that is already pre-filled with PetSafe’s crystal cat litter.
However, if you are looking for a higher end self-cleaning litter box with more features and technology I would still recommend the LitterRobot 4. It sifts the wastes very well, it does a better odor control, features the Connect App which not only allows you to monitor your cat’s health but also lets you remotely trigger the manual cleaning cycle, shows you how much waste has already filled the waste receptacle, and adjust the settings of the Litter Robot 4 smart cat litter box. It offers more helpful features than what the PetSafe ScoopFree Litter Box can offer but for a much higher price point.
If price is a major factor in you decision the PetSafe ScoopFree is a great option.
Nice job
